Staff Accountant

POSITION OVERVIEW  
                The Staff Accountant provides accurate and timely financial services to senior management and reports to Financial Planning and Analysis. Scope of accounting work includes 2 Holding companies and 18 subsidiaries.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include and are not limited to
  • Record Journal Entries.
  • Reconcile Subsidiary accounts.
  • Maintain General ledger and prepare trial balance and financial statements.
  • Assist with preparation of audit work papers and inquiries from external auditors.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and analyzing data.
  • Prepare complex bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related management reports.
  • Continuous improvements in the monthly financial closing process, relative to timeliness and accuracy of information and utilization of resources.
  • Adherence to Corporate Accounting policies.
  • Experience with Merchant Processing.
  • Manage accounting for fixed assets purchases, sales/retirements and depreciation.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested by supervisor, best practice sharing as a team player and uphold company Standard Operating Procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS      
Position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills with an ability to pay attention to detail. Successful candidate will exhibit self-initiative while accurately analyzing, preparing and presenting data with the ability to proactively resolve challenges and provide superior customer service to our management team, support staff and vendors.
 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ prior work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effect process improvements (efficiently use of resources, improve quality and timeliness of information) and supervise and motivate accounting staff.
  • Sound understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent financial systems skills
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with AccPac or similar business intelligence software.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

WORK SCHEDULE                            
This full-time position requires a weekly work schedule with fluctuations depending on deadline sensitive projects and annual audits. Specific schedule to be determined with supervisor.
